Ghale Gaun - Lamjung Community Trek is an easy 2-4-day homestay/teahouse trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal, reaching 2,200 m. It starts at Besisahar (jeep to Ghale Gaun) or Khudi (on foot) and ends at Besisahar.

Kathmandu -> Dumre -> Besisahar (bus/jeep, 6-7h, 185 km, paved) -> Ghale Gaun (jeep, 1.5-2h, 24 km rough unpaved hill road) OR Besisahar -> Khudi (30 min) then trek 4-5h up to Ghale Gaun

Weather

Panoramic views of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu and Buddha Himal are clearest Oct-Dec. Monsoon (Jun-Sep) brings leeches, slippery stone steps and landslide-prone road sections but the village itself remains accessible most of the season. Winter days are clear and cool (village at 2,100 m gets occasional light snow).

  1. Day 1: Kathmandu to Ghale Gaun, 1 h, 2,100 m — Marsyangdi valley drive; evening Gurung cultural program (Ghatu/Krishna Charitra dances), sunset over Lamjung Himal
  2. Day 2: Ghale Gaun to Ghanpokhara and back to Ghale Gaun, 4-5 h, 2,100 m — Ridge walk to Ghanpokhara village (~2,200 m), Uttarkanya temple, honey-hunting cliffs viewpoint, Annapurna II / Machhapuchhre / Manaslu panorama, round-house Gurung architecture, sheep-wool weaving
  3. Day 3: Ghale Gaun to Kathmandu (via Khudi/Besisahar), 3-4 h, 1,400 m — Descent through rhododendron and terraced millet fields to Khudi, Marsyangdi riverside
